Bio
Veterans of the international music industry, Craig Reeves, Doug Wright & Marcel Rodeka have shared the stage with a wide range of national and international performers including Kenny Rodgers, Queen, The Bellamy Brothers, Tom T Hall, Rob Guest, Ricky Scaggs, Jimmy Barnes, Joan Armatrading, Emmy Lou Harris, Blood Sweat & Tears, Tammy Wynette and Sir Bob Geldof. Dunedin based since 93’, the Oxos brand of dynamic entertainment and quality musicianship covers a wide range of musical styles and is enjoyed by thousands of appreciative music fans from all parts of the planet. The band’s philosophy over the past 15 years has been to involve, encourage and promote as many local musicians and crew as possible, resulting in an Oxo membership of over 300 Dunedin artists and a number of New Zealand & Australian national and international performers. “A great thing about the Oxo family, “said keyboard player Doug Wright,” is that it includes many more than those that appear on stage. Dunedin production companies Strawberry Sound, Southern Lights and Glozier Concert Audio have been with us from the start and Air New Zealand, Radioworks, Hirequip and the NZ Rockshop have been long-term friends of the band. As New Zealand is a relatively small market, it would have been difficult to accomplish what we have without their support”. The band has established a strong bond with Dunedin and Southern New Zealand through performances for a variety of charitable organizations including The Hospice, The Life Education Trust, The Southland M.S. Society, Youth First, The Cancer Society, the Volunteer Fire Service, The Dunedin Santa Parade Trust, the annual Regent Theatre 24 hour Book sale, The Octagon New Year’s Eve Carnival and other community projects. Over the past 15 years Oxo musicians have played an integral part in the Dunedin arts community. They are long-standing performing members of the Dunedin Operatic Society, The Southern Sinfonia, The Fortune Professional Theatre, Calder Prescott’s Dunedin City Jazz Orchestra, The Dunedin Festival of the Arts and the award winning St Kilda Brass. It could be the Oxo Trio playing a café gig or packing the dance-floor at a wedding reception. The 16-piece Oxo Country Roadshow playing the National Rodeo Circuit or the 18-47 piece Oxo Classic Rhythm & Blues Big Band headlining a Music Festival or corporate event. The result is the same. An Oxo Cubans performance guarantees the audience a great time of excellent music and lively entertainment. -
