Bio
PERFORMER BIOGRAPHY-David Gideon (solo): David Gideon’s acoustic solo repertoire and style focuses on a flexible mix of originals and covers fusing folk, classical, blues, rock and popular songs. A keen supporter of original songwriting, David draws from his experiences growing up here in New Zealand as a child and as an adult. David’s original songwriting tackles subjects in a personal fashion, with diverse themes spanning from love and relationships, travelling, politics, raising kids, sin and redemption, to New Zealand history, war and peace, and even Celtic mythology. -GIDEON (THE BAND): Gideon are a heavy blues-rock trio. Gideon’s notable appearances include diverse support slots for international acts touring in New Zealand, including Hawkwind, Deep Purple, Tony Joe White, Andrew White, punk legends The Anti Nowhere League, The Exploited, No Means No, Aussie rockers Airbourne, and Ian Moss (Cold Chisel). Gideon have also played support for national acts including Hello Sailor, Karen Hunter, Billy TK, Midge Marsden and Bullfrog Rata, and established their own raft of shows at events such as The Gathering, The Grovelling, Christchurch Punk Fest, the Grey Lynn Park Festival, Visionz and Canaan Downs Festivals. Gideon bring a wide range of influences to bear on their live act, mixing heavy blues, folk, hard rock, punk, and classical and country. They have toured extensively throughout New Zealand, working hard to build up a fan base on the live circuit. -

Sounds Like
It's not so much that we sound like any other rock band or bands in particular as we have tackled blues, folk, rock'n'roll, punk and a hint of classical......I think? We've been told by people in our audiences and in some reviews that our recordings and especially our live sets reflect a lot of influences as listed in our influences section, the likes of Rory Gallagher, Black Sabbath, Johhny Cash, Hendrix etc.
