In the year since their last single, 'Into the Sun', 48May have been
anything but quiet. Busy working on their brand new album, Streetlights and Shadows, the Hamilton quartet have also supported American electro-rockers, Panic! At The Disco, played to packed venues around the country on a nationwide tour with Steriogram and Goodnight Nurse, and headlined at extreme sports festival, X Air.
Now, with their sophomore effort, 48May have returned with an album that
captures moments of the last year, both the highs and the lows - an
album that offers a genuine look at personal loss and personal growth.
Whilst retaining the driving rhythms, dynamic guitar work and infectious
melodies that lifted their debut album, The Mad Love, to Gold record
status, this newest offering, as the name suggests, deals in contrasts;
blending styles and highlighting dynamics, and ultimately pushing the
boundaries of their genre.
Evident from their first single, 'Nervous Wreck'; an eclectic infusion
of rock, pop and jazz sensibilities, 48May have honed their craft, maturing both musically and lyrically. Thematically, whilst The Mad Love painted in
broader strokes, Streetlights and Shadows offers a more introspective,
intimate look into the band, dealing with strengths and insecurities,
repose and regret.
With a brand new album before them, and their infamous May Army behind them, 48May are back, stronger than ever, and ready to take over the airwaves.
